1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible original Hot Rod. The car is an original 40 Ford Deluxe convertible with the exception of the engine. It has a Chrysler 331 Hemi with Dual Carter 4 barel carbs and an 50' s Cadillac Bat Wing air cleaner. The conversion was done back around 1965 as the info I have found and was done very nicely. The car is all original metal with a super clean California body and undercarriage. When I got the car the first thing I did was take it to a local speed shop and had it gone through at an expense of over $9000 dollars as I am embarrassed to say. I told them to do it right as I was planning to keep this car for a while and wanted to enjoy it. To begin with all 4 tires were replaced with BF Goodrich Silvertown bias ply tires. Next the gas tank and sending unit were replaced as were the fuel lines and fuel pump. Both Carter Carbs were sent out to be re bushed and re built. The cylinder heads were removed and a valve job was done while they were off as it was believed the valve springs were week from age and sitting.
